Parents are the primary educators and moral guides of their children. The school district should partner with families — never replace or undermine them.

  • Full, easy access for parents to review curriculum, instructional materials, library books, surveys, and digital content.
  • Clear notice and meaningful opportunity to opt out of content or activities that conflict with family values or beliefs.
  • Respect for parental authority in medical, counseling, and social decisions affecting their child at school.
  • Regular, transparent communication from schools and the board so parents are never left in the dark.
  • Active invitation of parent voice in policy development and board decisions.

Student-First Academic Excellence

The core mission of public schools is to teach children how to read, write, calculate, think critically, and understand history and science. Everything else is secondary.

  • Prioritize proven, evidence-based instruction in reading (phonics-based), writing, mathematics, science, and history.
  • Measure success by student mastery and academic growth — not by political or social metrics.
  • Support teachers with high-quality materials and the freedom to focus on academics rather than non-academic agendas.
  • Reduce distractions so classrooms remain orderly places where real learning can occur.
  • Ensure every student, regardless of background, receives a strong foundation for future success.

Limited Ideology in the Curriculum

Schools should not be used as vehicles for political or ideological training. Children deserve age-appropriate, neutral instruction focused on knowledge and skills.

  • Keep political activism, contested social theories, and adult ideological debates out of K–8 classrooms.
  • Require that instructional materials be age-appropriate and aligned with core academic standards.
  • Protect teachers from pressure to promote any political or social agenda.
  • Ensure that history and social studies present facts and primary sources rather than one-sided narratives.
  • Defend the right of families to raise their children according to their own values without school interference.

Transparency & Fiscal Responsibility

Redding families work hard for their tax dollars. Those dollars must be spent wisely and openly, with student learning as the clear priority.

  • Publish clear, accessible budget and spending information that any parent can understand.
  • Direct the maximum possible resources to classrooms, teachers, and direct student services.
  • Carefully review contracts, administrative positions, and non-essential programs for value and necessity.
  • Provide regular public reports on academic results and how resources are being used.
  • Maintain open meetings and responsive leadership that answers to parents and taxpayers.

Safe & Supportive Schools

Every child has the right to a safe, orderly learning environment. Teachers and staff deserve support so they can focus on instruction.

  • Enforce clear, consistent standards of behavior so classrooms remain places of learning.
  • Address bullying and disruption promptly and fairly.
  • Support teachers with practical tools and backup when dealing with challenging behavior.
  • Maintain facilities that are clean, safe, and conducive to learning.
  • Partner with families when behavioral or emotional concerns arise.
